How am I qualified to blog about Going Green Ideas?

I am the former editor of Imperfectly Natural.com, where I wrote and edited articles on Natural Living. The site is owned by the UK’s “Green Queen” and Radio Personality, Janey Lee Grace.

But before I joined Imperfectly Natural, I had always had an interest in environmental, green and natural issues. This is an interest I share with my husband who works in the Environment Sector, frequently advising the British Government – whether they listen or not is another matter!

Going Green Ideas will give you plenty of going green tips, but is not going to debate whether or not Climate Change is being brought about by Global Warming. Whatever your beliefs, surely it has to be good to try to reduce our carbon footprint, live a life that is less dependent on harmful chemicals and additives and create a better and more healthy environment in which to raise our children?

My take on Going Green

Although I want to live more naturally, I am realistic. I do not live a 100% natural lifestyle and would probably find it impossible to do so. My family and I work hard at reducing our Carbon Footprint, but we also make choices about what is most important to us. So yes, I do colour my hair. Yes, I do use a tumble dryer sometimes and no, I don’t always use soapnuts in my laundry.

I love cooking, but yes, sometimes we do have ready made meals. I try to garden organically, but when I find blasted Vine Weevils destroying the roots of my favourite fuschias, I will reach for the nearest chemical that will zap the blighters! But that is usually after I have picked out as many of the grubs I can out of the compost and fed them to the robins – they love them!

Going Green Ideas is full of tips and ideas on using green and natural alternatives to the products we use on a day to day basis. But at the end of the day, don’t beat yourself up if you don’t manage to do everything I suggest – I certainly don’t!
